New digital hierarchy

Digitalization is going on with some resistance, so I would like to understand what is the bonus of digital transformation and for whom, said Elena Kolosova, member of TC 505 “Information Modeling”, member of the NOSTROY Industrial Construction Committee, at the Digital Development-23 forum.


Unfortunately, for some reason, the goals of information modeling (IM) and the goals of digitalization are not spelled out in the RF Government content writing service Resolutions of nor in the Urban Development Code, she noted.


"Taking the experience of the West 10 years ago, we all saw in numbers and percentages amazing savings at all stages - from design to commissioning and believed in this model. But what is in reality? Firstly, each organization already has an established hierarchy, where the management has its own view, and information modeling provides significantly new content and knowledge. People who possess knowledge from IM are more informed than the usual levels of the hierarchy," explained Elena Kolosova.





The digital transformation of the economy should lead to a change in management principles, the system and status of people, and transform the previous hierarchy. The expert believes that


the cost-based pricing method is a barrier to the development of IM technology

— We need a mechanism for transforming the management vertical, which will be integrated into the new business order. It is necessary to create conditions so that savings with IM become profitable for the contractor. And these are already engineering companies — the goal of which is to earn money on savings using new technologies.


Having been involved in the development of TIM for 15 years, including the digital transformation of construction, and visiting a huge number of companies, it was quite painful for me to see that the same vendor problems that we talked about 10 years ago are now being discussed, said Vladimir Malakhov, Vice President of the National Chamber of Engineers and President of BISKID.


"We dreamed that today information models would be built and a single information space for the construction industry would be developed. But the issue of choosing a vendor and its software is the main problem today for operators, for whom the digital transformation was launched," the expert outlined the problem.
